My Dave is 35 years old today! I just wanted to tell him he's my everything! Thanks for being the Best Dad, the Best Husband, the Best example to me of patience and hard work, (because I have no patience and I like to lay on the couch). Thanks for being my Best friend. Thanks for making me laugh. Thanks for loving our girls. Thanks for always being there. Thanks for shaving... hopefully soon. You're the Best! Happy Birthday! I love you.

My Bread Recipe
Okay, I'm posting this because several friends and family have asked to get this from me. Those of you who need a new recipe and haven't tried this one... DO IT! This is THE Best bread recipe ever, and it is the easiest! But I do recommend a Bosch Mixer and of course a wheat grinder to grind your precious food storage wheat. Yummy!
Mom's Wheat Bread
8 C. Flour
2 Tbsp. yeast
3/4 C. Gluten
Mix a little until yeast is mixed throughout flour, then add
6 C. Hot water (not boiling, but HOT from the tap). Mix this together for 1 minute with a mixer or constant stirring, then let the mixture sit, with a cloth over the bowl, for 10 minutes (set timer) Then add:
2/3 C. Honey
1/2 C. oil
2 Tbsp. salt
Mix a little and keep mixing while adding 6 more cups of flour. After flour is in, mix for 6 minutes, or knead constantly by hand for 10 minutes. Turn oven on to lowest setting(170') and spray bread tins with Pam. Divide into 4 or 5 loaves. Arrange all tins in oven and set timer for 20 minutes. When timer goes off, turn oven up to 350' and bake for 30 minutes more. When bread is done, take it immediately out of the pans, and lay the loaves on dish towels to cool. Eat one and freeze the rest.
Hard Tacos
We had drama this weekend. We were invited to our neighbors, the Phillips, for her homemade, insanely delicious tacos. We were looking forward to it all weekend! Especially, Dave. So in Dave's excitement of eating one of the delicious tacos, one of his veneers popped off... and he swallowed it! So he did what he needed to do, (search through his own vomit), to try and find it... with no luck. Poor Dave. There's always the other end. Is $345 worth that much?

Delicious
Okay, I know we've all seen the trailer and we all have our babysitters lined up for the evening of 12-12-08, but my awesome husband found the official website on the making of the movie and the introduction of the actors! It actually looks like we'll enjoy it! Fingers crossed... Kind of exciting! Go look here!

Colorful Colorado
Ahh, vacations! We just got back from one and I'm dying to write about it! We went to good ol' Durango, Colorado. That place is FULL of huge memories for my family. We would go every summer, at least once, and camp at Hermosa Meadows Camper park. My mom loved it! Her mom told her about it, we went, and we were hooked! As far back as I can remember we went every year! It got us out of the Arizona Heat and took us to insanely beautiful cool country. They call it the "Little Switzerland of America." Some of our memories there are taking the Durango-Silverton Train, fishing, going to see the Bar-D wranglers sing over a chuckwagon dinner, horseback riding and the Polo outlet, oh yes, the Polo outlet!
While we were there this time, Katie and I enjoyed remembering the good old days. It didn't matter if we went in a Coleman pop-up trailer or your regular hard top that had the full bathroom hook-ups, (which was awesome), my sisters and I would still emerge from our campsite with perfectly coiffed huge hair, socks that matched the shirt we were wearing, shoulder pads that we passed from outfit to outfit and usually finished it off with a braided belt (remember I'm an 8O's girl!) ready to find the cute boys of Durango. We totally knew how to camp. My brother still rolls his eyes about it.
Anyway, this time around we had all our kids, nine in all. Some had tents, others had Britney Spears' tour bus. . . (Katie) and other stuff in between. There were no shoulder pads or matching socks, but we all at least got showered every day. And we had all our awesome spouses to share in the experience of our beloved Durango.
Some fun things that happened this trip included a raging river raft ride down the Animas river. Aaron had his sunglasses ripped from his face – it was that crazy! My Avery's arm was savagely sprained after Dave picked her up wrong as she threw a huge fit in a gift shop. We had to wrap it and sling it so it wouldn't move because it hurt her so much. We just put her shirt on over it so if you looked at her from her good arm side she looked like she had saggy boobs. Aaron called her "Hooters." Nice. We took crazy Rhino rides up Cunningham Gulch, which is soooo beautiful, and had a picnic. We camped right next to the raging Animas river with four toddlers...That made for a relaxing vacation. We rode up to see the train go by in the mornings and smash pennies on the track. We took the Alpine slide at Purgatory. The guys went mountain biking. We ate... A LOT. Funnel cakes in Silverton, Mama's Boy Pizza, (twice), free pancakes at breakfast, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory fudge, chubs, chubs chubs. Anyway, if you want to see proof of our wild vacation, you can see it here. Thanks everyone for such a fabulous, successful camping experience!

A Slippery Slope
So today was the 4th of July! We spent it in a kind of unconventional way, opting to forego the traditional parade brouhaha and relax at home as a family. We had a blast playing on our little Walmart water slide and barbecuing in the backyard. Alex and Andie were crazy and fearless, and Avery worked her way up to that state. Check out the video below for proof!
Then we split up for the evening: Steph and Alex went to the Stadium of Fire, and Dave, Andie and Avery bought their own fireworks and created the Sidewalk of Fire in front of the house. Avery ended up being terrified of the fireworks, even the seemingly harmless turtle that pooped sparks. Dave still has the the nail marks in his flesh to prove it. So they put Avery to bed and continued without her. Andie loved the show, and took pride in her uncanny ability to pick the best fountains. She also showed particular concern for her dad as he lit the fuses, making sure to tell him not to "get blowed up" because he was her "best dad in the world."
Alex and Steph had great time at the big show. Miley Cyrus was the headlining performer, so Alex was in pre-teen, Disney Channel heaven. Steph bawled like a patriotic baby when the jets flew over, the soldiers held a gigantic flag over the field, and the whole crowd sang the national anthem. Kind of got verklempt.
All in all, it was a great holiday. Hope yours was awesome!

It's about time!
Phil got married! Yeah! We went to Seattle this week to see Phil marry Jessie. We are so happy for them!
The day was perfect. . . all but the huge downpour at the outdoor reception! Everyone grabbed something and ran! It was hilarious. We spent some quality time in the kids fort while the rain came down. It was fun to spend time together. Welcome to the family, Jessie!
Dave surprised Phil with a matching beard. It was touching.
It was also nice to have a little alone time, if you know what I mean. Anyway, we did get in some site seeing and we ran into Mario Batali at Pikes Place Market, (for ALL you food network fans.) We also got some strawberries there that were so good I had to lay on the ground to eat them. Congratulations, Phil and Jessie! Thanks, Seattle, for such a good time!
